GET STARTED
Adults often assume that Taekwondo is something you had to start young. This is a misconception. The technical and philosophical richness of Taekwondo makes it deeply rewarding to adults who approach it with genuine interest and commitment. Many adult students find that the discipline and patience they bring as adults actually accelerates their development compared to younger students.
Adults new to Taekwondo begin at white belt and progress through the Kukkiwon belt system at their own pace — there is no rush, and the satisfaction of each belt earned is entirely real. For adults who have previous martial arts experience in other disciplines, we assess your individual starting point and work from there.
We understand that adults have jobs, families, and competing demands on their time. Our Adults Program is structured to fit into a busy life without compromising on quality. Classes are scheduled to accommodate working hours, and our instructors are genuinely understanding of the reality of adult commitments. Consistency is valued more than frequency — even training two or three times per week produces real and visible progress over time.
COMMON QUESTIONS
No. We have adult students who began training in their 30s, 40s, and 50s, and who have progressed significantly and are thoroughly enjoying their practice. The technical and philosophical depth of Taekwondo means there is always more to learn and achieve. We scale training to suit each individual’s physical capabilities — please discuss any physical considerations with our instructors before your first class.
We recommend discussing any injuries or physical limitations with our instructors before your first class. In most cases, training can be modified to accommodate injuries. Our instructors are experienced in working around physical limitations and will never push you beyond what is appropriate for your individual situation.
Not at all. Taekwondo training will improve your fitness. Everyone starts somewhere, and our instructors scale the intensity of training to each student’s current capacity. You do not need to be fit to start — you need to start to become fitter.
Yes. Taekwondo offers many dimensions beyond sparring — Poomsae (forms), kicking technique, self-defence, and physical conditioning. You do not have to participate in sparring to gain enormous benefit from the other aspects of training. Many adult students train without competitive or sparring goals and still achieve excellent results in fitness, skill and mental wellbeing.
Absolutely. Adult students who train consistently progress through the belt system and earn black belt — a genuinely meaningful achievement at any age. The timeline varies depending on training frequency and individual progress, but our instructors are fully committed to helping every student reach their goals.
